    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified solicitor, ideally newly qualified up to 3 years PQE, to join an expanding international software business in a broad commercial legal role within our legal team based in Guildford, Surrey.

    This is a fantastic way to gain experience in all commercial matters of an international business. The role offers varied and challenging work, across multiple jurisdictions.

    Responsibilities

    The position focuses on general commercial and IP matters. Key responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts including customer and supplier agreements
    • Assisting in protecting and enforcing the company’s IP and in managing the company’s patent and trade mark portfolio
    • Assisting with regulatory compliance, particularly GDPR
    • Maintaining and updating commercial legal precedents
    • Drafting and maintaining company policies
    • Assisting in contract database management
    • Providing legal support to all departments across multiple jurisdictions and time-zones on a wide range of ad hoc legal matters

    Requirements

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent administration and IT skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to deal with multiple work projects and stakeholders and produce high quality work within a busy, fast-paced commercial environment

    Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

    • Must be a qualified solicitor, either in-house or in private practice. Some experience of dealing with commercial contracts, IT/IP and/or data protection
    • Will have a sound knowledge and understanding of commercial law and practices
    • Shall be approachable with an ability to establish and grow relationships and credibility with people at all levels within the business

    Desirable Qualifications & Experience

    • Patent experience
    • Experience and an interest in the software industry
